Beautiful start into the morning of the final day of the Danish Junior Games proudly presented by Blokhus Golfcenter. No clouds, sunshine, a bit chilly, no wind and some morning dew on the fairways. What can a player ask more for?
At 11:10 the leading boys group and at 10:50 the leading girls group went off for the final stretch. The greens have shown to be very receptive and rolling well for the players. So again it was just a matter of time when the “birdie firework” would start!
Mia Sandtorv Lussand (Norway) went off with a little cold start, but managed to birdie hole number 6, which put her 1 shot behind Nathalie Borg (Sweden). She came off firing -4 after 6 holes. So it was a promising final round with some quality golf! Natalie has turned in 2018 just 14 and with her 5th start at a Global Junior Golf event, she has shown continuous improvement. Mia and Natalie bee battling the back nine and it was a very close fight. The 14 year old Swedish girl in end shown her best performance in the 2018 calendar and secured the title with a sunday 68!
Mats Ege managed in his final round to keep the momentum. It is only his 2nd Global Junior Golf appearance and the odds where for him to secure his title at the Danish Junior Games after he has finished as a runner up earlier in 2018 at the European Spring Junior. However the Magnus Arend Ostergaard, the winner of 2017, has put the Norwegian player under pressure and came one shot close of going into a playoff. Mats Ege cruised down 18 and than had a 2 putt to secure the GJG title at the Danish Junior Games.
Congratulations to Mats Ege and Natalie Borg, with the title at the Danish Junior Games, they have qualified for the GJG Grand Final powered by the Bishops Gate Golf Academy.
GJG is looking forward to return to Blokhus Golfcenter in 2019. It has been an exceptional week. Thank you for the great support of all the volunteers and the Blokhus Golfcenter team.
