Round 1 of the fifth edition of the 2018 Evolve Spanish Junior Championship got underway at Golf de Bonmont in Mount Roig, Spain in challenging conditions.

The course was playing long due to the recent weather system that affected most of Europe the past few days. Players representing more than 20 countries faced demanding conditions on the 6995 yard Trent Jones designed layout currently ranked 11th in Spain.

Top male player is Petr Janik from the Czech Republic with an even par 72. One shot behind him is Kiko Francisco Coelho from Portugal with a 73. Three players are tied at +2, they include Dan Hlavacek from the Czech Republic, Nicolas Horder from Germany and Mark Kuhrs also from Germany.

In the girls division Valentina Albertazzi from Spain and Russia’s Natalilya Guseva both share the lead at -1. 2 shots behind is two-time winner of the Championship is Slovenia’s Pia Babnik.

Second Round play commences tomorrow at 9.00 and with a good forecast for the next two days this promises to be another exciting finish in deciding this year’s winners.
