Both players were sharing the lead after the first round of the Campine Junior Golf Classic and are now solo leading the boys and girls division.
Dutchman Max Peerbooms took solo lead in the boys category after a strong round in 71 strokes (-1) which brings his total to 143; one under for the tournament. ‘Mentally, I was really strong today’ claims Peerbooms. ‘I played well from tee to green and on the first six holes I had some good birdie changes but unfortunately did not make any. On my seventh hole I lost my ball after the second shot and made double bogey. Luckily I was able to remain calm and made three birdies after that to post a 71.’
Patrick Harms from Germany took over the second place from Floris Jan Oosterhof (NL) and Arthur Draijer (LU) after shooting a descent 72.
Marietta Louisa Dohrendorf from Germany is leading the girls division with six strokes over runner-up Sophie Muljono (NL), after shooting an impressive course record 69 (-3). ‘Today I’ve hit seventeen greens and made six birdies’ says the happy Dohrendorf. ‘Last weeks I’ve been working really hard on my short game and that also seems to be paying off now. Three birdies on the last three holes is always good.’
The third edition of the Campine Junior Golf Classic is organized by Pro Golf Events at the Golfbaan de Herkenbosche and is part of the Global Junior Golf Tour and Global Junior Golf 21golfleague. Results count towards the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
