After the first day of the Campine Junior Golf Classic at Golfbaan de Herkenbosche Max Peerbooms (18) and Lev Grinberg (11) are a happy men.

‘I had lot’s of birdie opportunities on the first nine holes and only made two. Still had some luck on the first nine and managed to go out in 34 (-2).’ says Peerbooms from the Netherlands and player from Top Golf Academy Limburg. ‘On the last three holes I hit it in the woods twice and had to chip out and made two bogeys to finish level par.’ The 11 year old Lev Grinberg from Ukraine also shot a 72 (level par). ‘I started with birdie-birdie and played really well. Drove the ball nicely and the putter was hot.’ he says. ‘I finished with bogey-par-double bogey-birdie and I’m happy with the way I’ve played today.’

After two good years at the Kempense Golf Club in Mol, Belgium, the tournament moved to de Herkenbosche nearby Roermond in The Netherlands. ‘A great choice’ says Martin van der Schans, one of the tournament directors. ‘This venue is absolutely fabulous and the green keeping team did a phenomenal job on preparing the course for the tournament – we are happy!’ he continues.

In the girls division Marietta Louisa Dohrendorf from Germany and Katrine Toftgaard Pedersen from Denmark share the lead after two rounds in 76 strokes (+4). On the second place (T3) there are the three Dutch girls Nikki Hofstede, Sophie Muljono and Amber Somers who all shot a 78 (+6).

‘We are looking back at a good first day’ says Henk van Dijken, the other tournament director of Pro Golf Events. ‘Blue skies and red numbers are always a good combination. Although some rain is predicted, we are hoping that the current trend continues for the coming days.’
