What an impressive start on day 1 of the Greg Norman Academy Junior Invitational, the Grand Final of Global Junior Golf. Martin Leon (Chile), Wilco Nienhaber (South Africa; two time Global Junior Golf winner 2017),Benjamin Saiz-Wenz (Chile), Christian Kahrs Skaale (Norway) and Magnus Arend Ostergaard (Denmark; winner of the Global Junior Golf Danish Junior Games) are sharing the lead with 71 strokes (-1).
In the girls division Valeria Mendizabal Riépele (Guatemala; winner of the Colombian Junior International) is leading by one stroke with 73 shots total followed by Emma Berlin (SWE) with an opening 74.
Just as a Grand Final can be, it will a strong competition over the next 3 days with the superb international field. Best of luck to all participants on day 2.
The Barefoot Golf Resort has prepared the Norman Course in an immaculate shape for the the third edition. The top selected players of multiple nations have two more days to go and GJG is excited so see who will claim the most prestigious title of the ongoing Global Junior Golf Season. Maybe it will be the first time in the GJG history that a player secures three titles during a Global Junior Golf season. Wilco Nienhaber has teed off for the third time on the GJG 2017 schedule and has already two top GJG major titles on his belt.
