Hofgut Georgenthal, an extraordinary place, Golf at its finest, a hidden secret in the hills close to Wiesbaden and definitely one of the most challenging golf courses in Germany.
The RB German Junior is returning in the 2nd year to Hofgut Georgenthal and is honored to call it their „Home" for such a prestigious tournament.
In 2016 players from across the globe have encountered the brand new opened links style golf course and had to bring their game at highest level alongside to survive the 54 hole Global Junior Golf Major.
A course record has been set by Ludvig Eriksson (SWE) with 69 strokes and shows again what an extraordinary performance the winners Polly Annika Mack (GER) & Constantin Unger (GER) have shown in June 2016.
In 2017 the RB German Junior, the german major of GJG, will again consist of 3 age categories (21golfleague, GJG Tour & U16). Players from around the world give their best and to be part of the history.
Who will claim the „green jacket" in junior golf?
Mrs. Brita Hankammer, CEO of Hofgut Georgenthal, is welcoming together with her team all the players to join the RB German Junior from 18th – 21st of May 2017.
GJG: Mrs. Hankammer, only 3 month left and the excitement will return. Please share your feelings about the RB German Junior. Mrs. Hankammer:We are very excited, that now for the second time we host this great tournament. And we feel flattered to be chosen again.
GJG: Hofgut Georgenthal is the perfect setup for a GJG Major. Undulated greens, high rough, narrow Fairways, Water hazards and a links Style course setup. What is your favorite hole on the course and why? Mrs. Hankammer: I love hole 5. It’s the combination of the greatest view over the Georgenthal valley and a green, that first is hidden behind a hill with tricky bunkers and after you have reached the hill you find the green lying there like an infinity green over the valley. That’s quite charming …
GJG: Your Facility offers multiple amenities so partners, families or spectators will have an unforgettable memory. Please introduce Hofgut Georgenthal and what your hotel is about. Mrs. Hankammer: Our concept is "Being nearby but feeling far away”. Only 40 Minutes from Frankfurt there is nothing but the Hofgut in this valley and with our offers for fine dining with regional products, wellness and beauty spa treatments, the nature around and now the golf course it’s a unique place to step out of the daily routines and take a deep breath.
GJG: How do you feel about being one oft he challenging golf courses in Germany? Mrs. Hankammer: Planning this golf course with the architect Christian Althaus we had the vision of an outstanding design, that would make every hole different and rememberable. You can’t just hit long, you have to use your brain playing this course. It never gets boring.
GJG: What was your favorite moment of the RB German Junior 2016? Mrs. Hankammer: Seeing the best young golfers of the world on our course, that had just opened two weeks ago and learning that they all are just really nice people.
GJG: What will the players encounter while their are attending the RB German Junior in 2017? Mrs. Hankammer: One of the most challenging golf courses in Germany (just rated 5 stars by the German Association of Golfcourse Management BvGa) and a warm welcome from all our staff, who share the excitement.
GJG: One of the main Sponsors, BRITA, is providing great support during the tournament. Please share what is behind the „special water filters"? Mrs. Hankammer: BRITA had been founded by my father in 1966, when I was just one year old. He started the first production in our garden under our pear tree. Today BRITA sells water filter products in over 60 countries worldwide … and sponsors the water for the Global Junior Golf.
GJG: What is a must seen place when they come to Wiesbaden? Mrs. Hankammer: In May Wiesbaden hosts the International Theater Festival and shows world famous theater pieces and companies. Apart from that a walk from the Kranzplatz with its hot springs to the monumental Neo-Classical Kurhaus ("spa house") passing really nice shops and cafès is quite appealing.
